Pioneers Camp

Situated in the Zambezi National Park just seventeen kilometres west of Victoria Falls town.

Set under large, shady trees, along the shores of the Zambezi River – Pioneers Camp offers a beautiful setting to relax and enjoy the wilderness, peace and beauty of the Zambezi National Park. It is situated on a lovely quiet stretch of Zambezi River shoreline with a natural spring-line, Mpala Jena, running through the site. This spring-line attracts an abundance of wildlife throughout the year. Pioneers Camp is conveniently located close to Victoria Falls  but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the busy town. There are many activities available to guests such as fishing, canoeing, sunset cruises as well as guided walking along the Mpala Jena springline. It is so close to Vic Falls you can easily go into town to enjoy some ‘adventure’, a game of golf, high tea at the Vic Falls Hotel or anything equally decadent! Accommodation

Pioneers Camp has six large tents with comfortable beds and all have an en suite. Additional beds can be provided upon request. The tents are spaced sufficiently far apart to ensure privacy. All tents overlook the Zambezi River and you will be able to witness the amazing sunrises.

Airport

Guests can fly into Victoria Falls or Livingstone in Zambia and transfers can be arranged by Pioneers Camp. Victoria Falls Airport is approximately 22 kms out of Victoria Falls Town and the journey from Livingstone to Victoria Falls is also quiet short. Pick ups from the airport  can be arranged with local transfer companies at an additional cost. Taxis are also available and fees vary between US$20 – US$30. Pioneers Camp is 17 kms (approx 45 minutes) from Victoria Falls Town and guests will be picked up from any pre-arranged location in town and transferred to camp at no fee.

Victoria Falls Airport is approximately 22 kms out of Victoria Falls Town. Pick ups from the airport  can be arranged with local transfer companies at an additional cost. Taxis are also available and fees vary between US$20 – US$30. Transfers into Victoria Falls can be arranged for guests coming from Livingstone and it is a fairly short journey. Pioneers Camp is 17 kms (approx 45 minutes) from Victoria Falls Town and guests will be picked up from any pre-arranged location in town and transferred to camp at no fee. Pioneers Camp is situated in the Zambezi National Park so park fees will need to be paid. The rate is US$10 per person per day.

Location

Pioneers Camp is located in the North West of Zimbabwe and is situated on the Zambezi River which borders Zambia. The camp is in the Zambezi National Park and is 17 kms, approximately 45 minutes from Victoria Falls town. The roads are dirt roads and therefore subject to the impact of local weather conditions and the quality does vary. Self-drive guests are advised to use 4WDs.

Nearby Attractions

Pioneers Camp is situated within the Zambezi National Park right on the banks of the Zambezi River. The unspoilt location of the camp is situated in raw African bush. The primary attractions are the wide variety of animals and birds and the magnificent Zambezi River itself which lends itself to stimulating boat rides, amazing scenery and spectacular sunsets. Across the river is Zambia which is easily accessed via the Victoria Falls Bridge which is approximately 50 minutes away near town.
