In May 2014 the General Assembly of European Council on Tourism and Trade decided unanimously to award Zimbabwe ‘WORLD BEST TOURIST DESTINATION FOR 2014’ and in June of 2016 the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority became the first national tourism organisation in Africa to join the Pacific Asia Travel Association.
